Yoga classes are offered weekly on Sunday's at 1:00 PM.

Yoga is intended both to introduce new students to the practice of Yoga and to provide instruction to those who already enjoy the benefits of Yoga. At Hope and Recovery, we welcome all participants because the practice of Yoga is for everyone.

Classic Yoga has been practiced for over 5000 years. Through the integration of postures (asanas), breath-work (pranayama), meditation (dhyana), and soothing sound (dharana), Yogis and Yoginis appreciated that they could achieve physical conditioning, improve vitality, create inner peace, and enjoy a heightened sense of wellbeing.

Today, we describe these benefits as stress reduction, muscle strengthening and improved range of motion, improved flexibility and balance, increased breath capacity and improved circulation, as well as a heightened sense of well-being.

Individual needs are considered and alternative positioning options for each pose are offered to accommodate all skill levels. Learning how to safely enter and exit poses, honoring your body and skill level, proper breathing techniques and progressing to more challenging poses, held for longer periods of time is the goal. For this reason, class plans and themes vary to allow participants to explore different aspects of Yoga based on individual skill levels and knowledge.
